Learnopolis.net is a joint cooperation platform of the University of Bayreuth and the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. They share the goal of promoting digitally supported learning and teaching and work on further developing concepts and tools "tailor-made" for lecturers and students in different areas. The projects works both with central institutions, such as the university libraries, and at the level of faculties and institutes. Furthermore, both universities want to use of the innovation potential of their respective regional environments dealing with digital instruments in modern education.

The Ivan Franko National University of Lviv is one of the oldest universities in East-Central Europe and was founded in 1661. Today, more than 19,000 students study at 19 faculties of the university, which was named after the Ukrainian national poet Ivan Franko. 1886 university teachers are engaged in research and teaching. Within Ukraine, it is one of the most successful universities, both in terms of student numbers and in research rankings.
The Chair of Intercultural Communication and Translation Studies is one of the youngest at the university. It was established in March 2008. The department trains professional translators in consecutive and simultaneous interpreting, as well as in literary, scientific, technical, legal, medical, military and audiovisual translation. The department deals with both theory and practice of translation processes and has participated in numerous cooperation projects.
