Educational Services

For your individual development in teaching, there is a wide range of didactical services available. All
these services are free of charge. You will receive working units (AE) for the use of these services.
Please contact us by phone or e-mail for further arrangements.

Individual Consulting and Support Services

  • Coaching: A coach supports you in your development, e.g. in the areas of rhetoric or media
    design of lectures (PowerPoint).
  • Consulting: In face-to-face discussions, we try to find ways to meet your individual challenges
in teaching, e.g. conception of teaching, design of exams, design of teaching portfolios.
  • HospitationYou receive constructive feedback on your course, e.g. on the design of lectures,
    activation and involvement of students.

Innovative Teaching Methods – A Breath of Fresh Wind for your Lectures and Seminars

In cooperation with a lecturer of the FBZHL you can get an individual overview of new teaching
methods and discuss possible applications in your department. We support and accompany you in the implementation of innovative teaching methods in individual course dates of your course so that you can try them out actively.

Examples: Use of voting cards ("classroom response systems"), digital resources, such as researchoriented teaching and learning (FoLL), just-in-time teaching (JiTT) or ideas for teaching in large groups (e.g. "peer instruction for very large groups").

If you want to find out more about new forms of teaching and optimize selected events with our
support, please contact us. A short e-mail is enough! We will then contact you by telephone.

Teaching Awards for Special Commitment of Instructors

The University Prize for Outstanding Teaching was awarded for the first time in the winter semester 2014/15 and has been presented annually since then. The prize is awarded to a professor or a member of staff on a yearly rotating basis and is an award for particularly excellent teaching performance.

The selection of the prize winners is based on proposals from the student councils of all faculties and the election of a higher-level committee with one representative each from the student councils, the Center for Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (FBZHL), the speaker's council and the vice president for teaching and students.

In addition, the "Bayreuth University Prize for digitally supported teaching" has been awarded since
2017.

Both prizes are endowed with 1000 Euro. The prizes will be presented at the President's Dinner of
the University of Bayreuth.
